biography

Amanda McLoughlin is a 2021 graduate from The Ohio State University with a BFA in Dance along with a minor in Integrative Approaches to Health and Wellness. She is from Chesapeake, Virginia where she trained at Academy of Classical and Contemporary Dance and The Governor’s School for the Arts. These two places molded her into the person and dancer she is today. Her next chapter lead her to The Ohio State University where she spent her four years of college. Over the her four years, she had been in five concerts, studied abroad in Denmark, and was a part of a mental health campaign that used dance as the forefront. She had performed a variety of different styles within contemporary/modern dance. She performed a piece that had elements of the Flying Low technique integrated into it in Denmark with Sofie Ann Clemmensen, the restaging of the historic work, Rooms by Anna Sokolow, from notated score with guidance from Valarie Williams, a dance film choreographed by Daniel Roberts, and multiple student choreographed works that had personal takes on contemporary dance such as Sophia Smith, Abby Koskinas, and Jacqueleen Bordjadze. She also choreographed her own solo that took elements from both Ann Sofie Clemmensen and Anna Sokolow. Her time at Ohio State pushed her to limits she never thought she could reach. The faculty and staff have guided her down the path towards performance and dance wellness. Post graduation, Amanda is a Company Member of Cultivate Dance Project in Columbus, Ohio. She has been in a few local performances and looks forward to more live performances in the future. For wellness, she is an instructor for Pure Barre. This allows her to use her dance technique in a different way, helps keep her active, and gives her the opportunity to work with others. She is excited to keep performing and learning and is looking forward to seeing where her path goes next.
